Crackerjack Children’s Trust, has been working hard to raise funds for a local disabled boy who has Cerebral palsy and is in desperate need of a specialised wheelchair. The wheelchair was supplied by a local company; R82 based in Halesowen who specialise in this kind of equipment and cost £2661. The chair has many features and will help give this little 5 year boy from Kidderminster with a better quality of life offering support to his body and freedom and ease of movement for his parents and carers. Funds were raised by local Children’s Nurseries and pre-schools holding sponsored “dressing up fun days”, where children and staff arrived at their nursery dressed as a Disney character or in their pyjamas. These fundraising events have been a great success and the children had lots of fun whilst raising desperately needed funds. Other fundraising events were completed by running themed party nights at several local pubs; The Swan, The Three Crowns & Sugar Loaf and The Red Man. The handing over of the chair took place on Friday 25th October 2013. Co-founders of the charity Terry Bull and John Bacon were delighted to be able to help this local boy and would like to thank everyone who pulled together in raising the funds, Terry said “it’s great when the community pull together and amazing to see what can be achieved, people can be so generous at times like this and for this we would like to thank them for their help and support”. Crackerjacks was established to help children who suffer from a severe disability and is now helping many other children. The charity, now into its second year provides specialised equipment and respite breaks are based in Franche Road, Kidderminster and are currently looking for volunteers who have some free time to offer in our Administration Department a few hours per week or if you are a company, school or nursery who feel you may be able to support our charity in any way please contact Terry Bull on 01562 228086.
